So, today in Fishtown, Philadelphia, a group of maybe 20 racist white vigilantes with baseball bats confronted a small group of peaceful protesters with Black Lives Matter signs. They threatened them, they called them n-words and f----ts, and they told them to protest in front of their own houses.
The protesters stayed peaceful and tried to dialogue, and the mob tore up their sign and stepped to them. The protesters backed away, and left the area.
I guess my point is, if an angry mob of racist white people seeking vigilante justice with baseball bats can manage to avoid overt violence against protesters, how fucked up are all of our police? And if protesters can avoid violence against a racist mob with baseball bats calling them racial slurs and anti-gay slurs, why in the fuck does anyone think the protesters are instigating things with police?
I’m going to attempt to make that a little more concise and poignant, and post it as a video to social media tomorrow.

Except it isn’t. Just because you aren’t shooting unarmed black men doesn’t mean you’re a good cop. It only means you’re less bad.
The idea goes beyond just cops too. For example, I can’t work for Wells Fargo and not be aware that I am playing a role (though possibly an extremely small one) in weakening the financial situation of the lower and middle class. Even if I am a good person trying to do a good job, I’m doing so with the belief that the good being done in doing a service for society and possibly providing for others outweighs the bad I’m doing to society as a whole.
Being a good cop comes at the cost of perpetuating a broken policing system that victimizes people of color. I do not understand people who think that being a cood cop is enough to offset the damage done to our trust in law enforcement to protect us from harm.

half of the statue being loaded on truck, unforunately i heard they are either giving it to daughters of conferederacy or putting it in museum, not destroying it, but as long as its out of public i’ll take it.
