Hey, I did really well in a walrus category with one of their songs. They’re from Cincinnati
also this but not clear who took it.
I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that version, I’ll listen again.
They started out that way, their first two albums were more hip hop. At the time, as a kid sheltered from other rap, they seemed awesome. Listening back, there’s a nostalgia, but obviously they’re not in the same league as real rap. If there’s a song that belongs in this thread, it’s probably this one:
Pardon me, your epidermis is showing, sir
I couldn’t help but note your shade of melanin.
I tip my hat to the colorful arrangement,
Cause I see the beauty in the tones of our skin.
We’ve gotta come together
And thank the maker of us all,
We’re colored people, and we live in a tainted place,
We’re colored people, and they call us the human race,
We’ve got a history so full of mistakes,
Cause we are colored people, who depend on a holy grace.
…
We’ve gotta come together,
Aren’t we all human after all?
Whatever you had to say about them, I’m sure their message kept a lot of Christians in my generation from going down the road of racism, and I’m definitely thankful I grew up in a church that was not Completely ass backwards on matters of race.
A whole legion of stormtroopers stood in front of Floyd‘s murderer‘s house. They, too, saw the video and decided that’s where they should be.
I’m not trying to be flippant, but in my mind the difference is simple: the vigilantes know they’ll face consequences, the police know they won’t.
Forgot these lines from Jesus Freak, that also seem quite relevant.
Kamikaze, my death is gain
I’ve been marked by my maker
A peculiar display
The high and lofty, they see me as weak
'Cause I won’t live and die for the power they seek.
Guys please stop with the jesus “music.”
Grew up only being able to listen to Christian music in the early 90s so you guys posting this is a fun trip in a bizarre kind of way.
tell me LA helicopter isn’t chasing a white ford bronco right now
edit–suspects got out and ran and the driver immediately turned where the heli couldn’t track him
Great call on the song. Agreed, their music had a huge impact on me. What a difference it made to see Michael Tait dominating as the de facto lead of a group that didn’t officially have one.
don’t throw the molly at the cops guys, that’s attempted murder charges
I’m not so sure about that, but maybe.
fishtown in philly
LA is just going from car chase to car chase.
