As an experienced NLHE player, what’s the best book for getting into PLO?

Are you going to be playing more live or online? Which is your primary experience?

Likely mostly live, low limit, in a casino.

I’d also like a recommendation for playing live PLO!

I’d assume it’s easiest to do a training website nowadays?!

I still enjoy playing NL, but it’s pretty frigging boring to watch, unless there’s some good LAGs playing

I’ve never read a PLO book or done really any training and I’m a winning 1/2 and 2/5 stars reg, it seems Jnandez has a bunch of free content, I’m not sure of much that is 100% for live.

It’s hard to overstate how bad people play in LLSPLO. If you’re intelligent you will crush it even with very, very little study/work/luck.

This. Key is to embrace the variance. Understand that hand strengths run close. It’s not like Holdem where you can often get it all in as a 80% fav.

NL Holdem kinda blows in my area (Chicago) but fortunately in other parts of the US it is still very alive and well, so I’m not in a huge hurry to be playing PLO because I love those 85/15 all in spots! But I figure it’s a good idea to start learning

  1. Have the nuts or lots of outs to the nuts.
  2. Get lots of money in the pot vs everyone else who will be MUCH less selective.
  3. Profit!

Low (and mid, in the right markets) stakes PLO is insanely soft and having somewhat reasonable starting hand selection and not drawing to non-nut hands will let you show a profit while you get a feel for the game and your player pool.

Every normal heuristic to winning at NL applies even more so to PLO.
play a solid, tight range
Try to play in position as much as possible
Play more nutted hands

Third one is a big departure from NL obviously. Any experienced NL player has won some gigantic hands with AK type hands and a single pair. This rarely happens in PLO with the exception of getting in AAxx pf.

Pretty sure you guys all watched Love on the Spectrum. Tell me that Jungle doesn’t sound exactly like Michael in the above interview.
