I’m sure you are right but it’s even dumber in his scenario.
He is obviously capable of learning how to play properly. He chooses not to I guess because it’s counter to his general nature. I can understand this of the average weekend warrior fun player but for a guy who chooses this as a career to knowingly choose to do it poorly is really odd. Hard to think of another career analogy.
Yeah, the trait of doing enough to not get fired but not putting in much effort to develop skills that could help with future advancement is present in a lot of people. In fact, it might even be slightly less common in poker b/c the connection between improved skills and making more money is more direct in poker than some other jobs.
Its a really lukewarm take by me, but it kinda annoys me that phil galfond hasnt shown up to the wsop and doesnt plan on.
Like obv he gets to do whatever he wants, but he sells so many poker products and his name itself is one of the strongest brands in poker and he dislike it so much he doesnt even want to show up?
he’s like the anti galfond. he truly loves that shit. i was talking to a friend who’s grinding vegas asked if he’s playing the gladiator thing. he said he probably wouldn’t play it if they pay him 300 bucks. DN out there playing every event
