Why don’t these rooms insure their guarantees like hole in one and mid court shot competitions do?
Might be hard insure something like this where the poker room is at least partially responsible for the number of entrants. Would eliminate/reduce incentive for poker room to push to get as many entrants as possible.
Guarantees are stupid.
That’s exactly how I remember him.
Spent too much time looking for updates, but did find this thread:
It’s pretty rough - basically every respected poster tells him that he kind of sucks.
oh lord to be a loser at 15/30 LHE in 2005 would have required some…. big leaks.
1000 BB swings aren’t unheard of in LHE though.
El Diablo seems to agree:
If you are seriously down 800BB after multi-tabling Party 15-30 full-time for three months, I would strongly recommend looking into another line of work, as I think your prospects as a pro poker player are quite bleak. I say this fully aware of your results over the last year.
hahahahaha I love El D, I forgot he was a lhe guy
yea on the first page they’re roasting him for flatting 3 bets with JQs in MP, oof. that’ll evaporate money pretty quickly.
Really? Are we talking about online here?
I played very little online, but the jump from 15/30 live to online was massive. It was like a completely different game.
I played a decent mix of stars 3/6 5/10 and 10/20 around 2009-2011 period - even then the games were not very difficult. In 2005 it would have been quite a joke on party, I have to assume, but I only know the games I played on stars.
I was not very good. But live 15/30 was pretty easy for me and I was about a $40/hr winner over a few thousand hours of that and slightly higher stakes (I know, lol live sample sizes).
I had very few hours of party and stars LHE, so I didn’t track that, but it was much, much harder.
Made day two of the first event in our local series. $340 buyin. 10 from bubble $30k up top. I have 35 bb.
Feel like I played well yesterday. Never had jacks plus once. Had Tens twice and AQ once. Busted KK with 77 and AA with 64cc.
Lol donkaments.
I actually don’t think staying at Bally’s/Paris for a year would be that tough. The check-out/check-in thing once a month would be annoying, but the main issue is just that it’s not worth it for $100K when the biggest game they’re ever going to have there is probably $1/3.
If I didn’t care about covid, I could do it for the right amount of money. I’d need to add a few things to the room… A microwave, a coffee maker, my computer, and a better desk chair. Also a video game system and an HDMI.
Grind online, study a lot, binge a few TV series, gym, occasional spa visits, get good food delivered now and then.
Not being allowed to go in the pool just seems kind of spiteful.
But really the only issue here imo is how much money is it worth to give up access to live 2/5+ and limit yourself to NV/NJ online?

lmao fuckin this, gimme a chance to do this and ill gladly do it for even less
walkin around the strip is BLEAK lately
33rd for $1100
Bang! +800 is a nice score. Wp
Lol sat down in 1/3 after and ran up 1400 profit in like 2 hours.
Would I take $10M, but never have a chance to win another bracelet? Probably not. Would I take $100M to never have a chance to win another bracelet? I’d probably have to. Would I take it from the Saudis? Fuck, I hope not.
destined? that’s a bit much? like yea he won $10 mill this year but he was also missing korn ferry cuts like, last year. Lots of guys started their careers white hot and fizzled. Unless I was a tiger level talent I’d definitely have to think about a guaranteed massive payday like that. I don’t know that all of them really care as much about prestige as they do raw payday these days. they pretty much breed these kids from womb to tour now.
