A common thread in those jobs is the societal push to have them done as cheaply as possible. If they had powerful unions and a cost per employee on par with cops I wonder if they wouldn’t actually be safer.
I am not disagreeing with you, I just think that the story may be more about the perverse social priorities at play.
The question not getting asked is how risky should these jobs be? If you business model is built around putting young people behind the wheel of a car for 8 hours a day maybe it isn’t sustainable? The people advocating for personal freedom tend to be the business owners who would rather not pay the actual costs to make their jobs safe.

Yes, probably. The key detail in many of those jobs is that they’re the ones filled by any warm body with little to no training or experience. For example, it’s the construction trade helpers who are dying the most, not the journeymen or experienced professionals, because the ignorant new guys are the ones most likely to do the really stupid shit that gets them dead.

Not sure if this was being discussed elsewhere but any legislation that makes owning a gun more difficult is good IMO.
