Oh woah. I thought you were responding to me responding to chuck. I suggest a second draft.
no, I donât think Iâll do that. I do agree with you on one thing though - the site definitely should be used how itâs intended, which is why it has moderation and administration tools to help prevent bad actors from trying to destroy the site or make the experience worse for other users.
Chuckleslovakian for mod.
Also, there were three posters that missed the election that would have voted for Wookie. Can we include their votes in the tally?
STOP THE STEAL
DO SOMETHING
See, nearly banhammered again for a (BBC) legit quotation⌠not liking this trigger happy moddingâŚ
Following his confirmation as the new Chewbacca, Suotamo posted a tribute to Peter Mayhew, the British-born actor who first took on the role of the beloved âwalking carpetâ.
I think CW just didnât get the reference. Youâll get an apology and warning retraction soon.
DrakeNo: counting votes made on the last day
DrakeYes: counting votes made after the polls close
This is your warning @hokie, thatâs referencing old drama to stir it up again. Jmakin was removed as an admin and left for a long time, thereâs no need to drag him over the coals for that.
We can see if this works I guess, but warnings/moderation about past drama when it seems like itâs what a solid third of what we do is going to lead to way too many people getting warnings/moderation and leave a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouths. Be more aggressive in moderating shit stirring posts/trolling as they spill to other threads (ie escalating moderation for repeat offenders), but to just say we canât talk about the past in the About area is excessive.
The site was intended, you might remember, as a community of equals, not as an elective dictatorship imposing undemocratic moderation rules that havenât been approved by the community.
What do you believe is inaccurate?
Wasnât aware that democracy required allowed a small minority to dictate what happens to it.
Please leave moderation to the moderators.
Point us to the vote on moderation rules.
This would be a more virtuous way to declare for Mr Walking Carpet than nullifying any votes. There were also a couple members who expressed a desire to change to abstention, but Wookie would still meet the threshold.
(81/121 = 66.9%)
eta: Sorry, bad math.
79 - 2 + 3 = 80
121 - 2 +3 = 122
80/122 = 65.6% (with vic)
80/121 = 66.1% (If you insist on nullifying vic)
Find 2 more yes or just do another vote.
The PM incident happened in what? Summer of 2021? As far as I know he left after that and came back sometime in the spring of this year in the golf thread only. So ~a year? Regardless, itâs been over a year since the incident heâs still being trolled about, he apologized and moved on. Everyone should.
It depends on the form of democracy.
Some people probably wanted consensus democracy along the lines of Occupy Wall Street, where a small minority can prevent things by wiggling their fingers their wrong way or crossing their arms.
Weâve defaulted to a system where we want more than 50% plus 1 vote to do things, avoiding the tyranny of the majority, but not the nutty requirements of the liberum veto of the Polish Sejm.
