Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 3)

Today I learned First Blood and Weekend at Bernie’s were directed by the same guy. Today you learned that too.

That’s a long way from evangelizing the great movie, but one day you’ll get there.

That movie doesn’t really demand evangelism since people don’t tend to shut up about it and it gets ridiculous feedback like this.

It’s like the inverse of hating the Yankees or Patriots. Sure, I agree, fuck those teams, but who’s going to pour a ton of energy into a cause that needs so few converts?

Anyway, I understand why it seems muted, because I realize that the usual rave about the movie goes something like, “OMG, I pressed play and then the next thing I knew I was drowning in a waterfall of my own semen!” People are so thoroughly weird about it. But that post marked a massive turnaround in my take, and I legitimately see it as an awesome movie now.

I agree with you on all counts. I loved the movie and the sound especially, but I’m not going out and buying a Fury Road hat, coat, t-shirt, and jacket.

In other words, now you’re evangelizing. Because you’re preaching to the choir lol.

GOAT Director?

lol, but that’s a spectacular range.

The moderators of this message board, otatop, L.Washington, WichitaDM, Yuv, JonnyA, RiskyFlush, and SvenO, are cowards who let abusers dox and harrass other long time posters.

OK I tried to come up with ‘anti woke’ Sinners era set movies ideas and let’s just say they were uh not good.

The minority townsfolk kill the loving white vampires and then the KKK kills all of them at the end and burns the club down? Cuz that’s basically the anti-woke version.

How about Furiosa ? iirc you didn’t love it when it came out. She deserves an LKJ rewatch imo.

No, I liked it pretty well actually. I’d be willing to run it back at some point, but it’s not a priority right now.

Didn’t see smashing machine but can confidently say it’s better than Marty supreme.

Did Levi get Me Tooed or is he a Pratt level thumper?

Same guy also made Wake in fright (1971) the Australian (maybe just set there) “horror” movie where a schoolteacher finds himself stuck in a rural town, the “twist” being that nothing nefarious is going on, the only frightening thing is that he has to spend time with his fellow country men, getting drunk, going kangaroo hunting etc… he’s even enjoying it but hates himself for it. Tbf it does look pretty gnarly.

I’ll be sure to file this alongside “every superhero movie I haven’t seen is bad.”

According to his Wikipedia page he seems like a dumbass Rogan Bro on politics (says he’s libertarian, supported brainworm for President, believes antivaxxer nonsense).
