Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 3)

It is indeed supposed to be very good, and unfortunately I have seen it.

Interminable slog.

Skeleton scene rules so hard

Wow that’s as good as I remember. Still, what if someone AI-ed Captain America into that scene. Then you’d really have a picture.

Thought we already did this last year but actually I was the only one

Haven’t seen Seven Samurai
Seventh seal I saw long ago good chance I’d agree with LKJ now
Chicago 7 is a lol boomer Sorkin screenplay, even has an unironic " that man…was Jesus Christ" line

Oh good call, Cleo from 5 to 7 is pretty great. I should have remembered that.

The skeleton actually does the Captain America shield throw move in that scene! Ray Harryhausen was a goddamn genius, literally decades ahead of the game.

When I was watching I thought the shield throw was the highlight. Great action, especially around the shield throw.

Seventh Seal is a classic. Right up there with Last Year at Marienbad.

Sadly no.

That’s what they tell me.

Obviously I acknowledge that it’s widely heralded as a classic, and honestly the premise sounded awesome to me, but hoo boy actually sitting through it…

I’m afraid of watching more Bergman now.

Wild Strawberries is my favourite of his. Another road trip for a dying man but nowhere near as stilted and baroque as Seventh Seal. Genuinely moving.

The last time I used baroque in a sentence was when describing the state of my bank account. A+

Sounds like you weren’t on the appropriate drugs.

Hahaha no, you missed the joke.

Wait, I passed over this part. Seven Samurai is fucking awesome. I say this as someone who took until a rewatch to really love it, but I’m there now and evangelizing for it like I would now with Fury Road.

Did I miss a step where you stopped hating Fury Road?

Ohhhhhhh haha
