Oh I finally got around to Red Rooms last night. Really interesting flick, though the audio acting on the snuff films was way too real for my liking.
Nice to know I have an afinity for French court dramas though and Anatomy of a Fall wasnt a one off.
Red Rooms might be the best horror movie Iâve seen for the first time this year, liked it even better than Sinners tbh.
Its odd, I know its considered a horror movie but there is a ton of good non horror stuff in there. The opening statements by both prosecuter and defense made me forget I wasnt watching a movie solely about this trial, and the budding friendship between the two women was really well done, up to and including their fallout.
In terms of pure horror, the scene at the end in the bedroom was fucking haunting, and as mentioned before, whatever small glimpses of the snuff we got was pur agonizing ear terror.
Red Rooms isnât French though 
The movie actually hits different as a French bc we are used (for no good reasonâŚ) to think of the Quebecois accent as something funny, so hearing it that context makes the whole thing even creepier

Creepier, yes (im including that part with the final selfie in the bedroom as well) but more terrifying, no.
I did not know how much of a difference there was between French and Quebecois courts. Is the âAccused sits in a plexiglass boxâ used for all Quebecois courts or just those for particularly violent accused?
Wouldnât their justice system have the same rules as the rest of Canada ? (Which given your sn Iâd assume you know aboutâŚthough to be fair I probably know 10x more about how US trials work than French ones despite where I live)
They donât. Quebec law is more like French civil law and the rest of Canada is more like English common law. All the provinces are subject to certain Federal laws, though.
This is what I presumed but wasnt sure. Also, im spiritually Canadian, not geographically Canadian

After years of infertility, Robin and Daniel adopt Kathelia, a mute orphan with a dark past. As Katheliaâs behaviour becomes more and more unsettling, the couple soon discover that an evil force has invaded their home and taken hold of the family.
Just fucking awful. The first thirty minutes were very intriguing, but then the movie gets more and more ridiculous. And the answer to whatâs going on is so unsatisfying. Weâve seen it all before and done much better.
Youâve invested more time in a movie that has a 4.6 on IMDB than Alien: Earth. Come on Risky, give it another shot
This movie was a group decision. They also put on something called Splinter and that was terrible as well. The things I do for good company and free dinner 
Today I am finishing the available episodes of Dexter, then Iâll try more Alien Earth

Dangerous Animals (2025)
Better than its B-movie premise would suggest. Good acting and a surprising story elevate this slasher film.
Worth checking out.

I tried watching Terminator: Dark Fate for the first time since it came out. This movie just does not slap. It starts off with a wtf event that needs to have a grand payoff to be worth it. Except the payoff is that by preventing Judgement Day in T2, we get a baffling retread of the same story components. A new Skynet. A new savior. A new protector. A new high-tech villain. The movie is basically one extended chase sequence that doesnât come close to the same highs as T1, T2, or even T3.
Crane is from T3 right? That was a high point in that movie.
Wtf. Well I knew this would be perfect for me. What a trainwreck. I feel so bad for the victims. And wtf at the criminalâs lack of remorse!! I donât buy their performance in court for a second.
