I never watched it the first time. I hear it might actually be real? No spoilers!
Anora 2024
I forgot the basis of it and just remembered it won the Palm Dāor this year. Intro is straight to tits and ass. Strip clubs, nudity, sex. I was not expecting that lol. The story is actually quite affecting and makes you think alot about sex workers transactional thought processes vs romance etc.
I went to the premier of Blair Witch 2 which is a well-known disaster. Joe Berlinger was visibly defeated and made a speech in which he didnāt even try to pretend the movie was good or that the experience was anything but terrible.
It really never even occurred to me to try watching Blair Witch 2. If not for the obvious motive that the first one made a lot of money and therefore you have to keep squeezing the public for whatever theyāll fork over, I couldnāt fathom that such a thing was even made given the content of the first. It feels pretty much impossible for a sequel to that movie having any artistic justification.

I love DDL so much. None of the Brett Favre diva shit where you make a big show out of retiring/unretiring. We find out about this because he quietly starts shooting something.
My most anticipated film by far. Canāt wait to see this.
Blair Witch was so hyped as the scariest movie ever that when I saw it in the theater, it was a huge disappointment. Looking back, it was probably a solid movie, but I was just waiting to be scared out of my mind and I never was.
And also the whole thing about whether or not it was realā¦come on.
Somewhat dependent on whether you liked the first one, but I thought the opening of BW2 showing the aftermath of the first film was good. The rest of the movie was terrible.
Anyone see the newest one where they use drone cameras?
Congrats to one of the best henchmen ever.
Tremors (1990)
Soā¦being a horror comedy that is neither scary nor funny kind of tends to put a ceiling on how good the movie can be. I still found the monster problem that the group dealt with to make for a fairly engaging story for a while, but ultimately found myself tiring of it and feeling like the movie was running too long. Thatās not a great sign when the movieās entire runtime is 96 minutes.
This isnāt terrible, but it was a miss for me. Spooky season is now under way; maybe tomorrowās movie will be better.
2.5/5
Watched Deadpool & Wolverine today. Found it really enjoyable. It was basically exactly what I wanted from this pairing and 3rd entry in the series. I am not as sophisticated a film watcher as some of you apparently lol. 4/5
Spent the night watching a couple of trans movies with my trans male housemate. He picked the first one, I picked the second.
Soldierās Girl
Set in 1997, Barry is a private with the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Calpernia is a trans woman working as a showgirl at a local transgender revue.
One night, Barry and his fellow soldier Justin venture out to the local drag show, where they instead witness Calpernia (played by queer icon Lee Pace), a trans woman living in plain sight.
Barry falls for Calpernia, but Justin becomes jealous and recruits a fellow soldier for a tale of revenge as tragic as Boys Donāt Cry.
Really good and emotional, though heartbreaking at the end. My only real complaint is that the trans character was played by a cis actor, but I canāt complain too hard about that actor being Lee Pace. He was fantastic in the role.
This is based on a true story.
Boy Meets Girl
Funny, emotional, and authentic, Boy Meets Girl tells a story of young trans love in a small-town part of Kentucky.
Ricky (played by trans actress Michelle Hendley) is a 21-year-old trans girl. Her only real friend is straight-edge Robby, her confidant for over 15 years. Their relationship is totally platonic ā until a new face in town unveils old secrets. Or at least as secret as anything can be in a place where everyone knows your name ā and your sexual partners.
Both are streaming free on Tubi.
Boo
Iām less excited about this since finding out itās his sonās directorial debut. I mean maybe it will be something really good, I hope so, but my default assumption would have been that he only would have come back for an interesting projectā¦this offers a very viable alternative to that.
So I hope itās really good, and either way I hope this isnāt just a one-off favor to elevate his kidās project. Weāll see.
Agreed. I love Tremors, but will admit it is not for everyone
Itās just a fun popcorn movie. Highly enjoyable. Loved it when I was a kid and still love it.
Heās the guy that scores the candy bar from the counter during Die Hard?
