Re: comedic actors in serious movies, I thought this review of Alien : covenant was pretty good

lol I hate when that happens.

I just watched “the Menu” and there’s a point towards the end where Anya’s character makes a speech to the chef along the lines of “you were so preoccupied with making conceptual points that you forgot to make your cuisine work on a basic level” and I felt like whoever wrote that script should have realized that this would actually be a reasonable critique of their movie.

Holy christ yes. His episode of Guillermo Del Toro’s show on Netflix last year was so god damn cool. Or was that 2022? Either way

Oh man, favorite Statham is so hard. LS&2SB? Expendables? Transporter? Collateral does not count, don’t give me that.

So you’re saying the woke mob has come for Jerry.

When I found out that it was a fictional story I thought that maybe it wouldn’t be a painful entry into the “little underdog corporation makes good” subgenre that has been blossoming for some reason, but the bad reviews seem way too resounding to ignore. I’ll take their word for it.

What has really come for Jerry is the widespread realization that Larry David was 90% responsible for the greatness of Seinfeld and Richards, Alexander, and Louis-Dreyfus were another 9%.

I mean what was even an iconic or best line or episode for his character? Shouting “mulva” out a window?

Yeah…no to the attempts at revisionist history. I know that there’s a human compulsion to seek a comfortable and neat narrative, but “Jerry is an asshole who has done a lot of great comedy work in the past” shouldn’t be too much for people to handle.
