yet when I try that it doesnāt work. or maybe itās just on my screen? Likeā¦is this gif āplayingā? because to me, itās not, itās just a still image:
yup
It is playing
weird. plays on my phone, but not my pc. I wonder if i have some chrome setting messed up.
I like gimmicks as much as the next @Preet_Bharara stan, but @badpostingdog is a bad look and I would like the owner to stop using it or take a moment here to explain why Iām wrong.
This is a small community and having a gimmick that does nothing beyond calling people names anonymously is kinda shitty. If someone thinks I (or anyone else) made a bad post, I would like the person to say so without putting on a costume to hide the mud slinging. This is a small place and I want to know who Iām talking to.
I assumed the idea of that account was to be used only in cases where the posting is so obviously and egregiously horrible that itās use will be seen as funny or at least uncontroversial.
That seems to be how it started but I made this post after seeing it used twice lately when the post was not obviously and uncontroversially horrible. Once against zara and the other one I forget.
Agree. Badpostingdog is bad posting.
Iām a badpostingdog supporter. In fact I wish they would post more.
Iām unfamiliar with the alleged poster, but Iām quite certain badpostingcat would be welcome
Iām also a fan. I think itās funny, and I think itās useful when someone is consistently bad.
If itās just a joke then fine. If not, they shouldnāt hide behind a gimmick.
Only cowards hide behind gimmicks.
I have no idea who it is, but I think itās clearly more than a joke. I can see why people might want to hide behind a gimmick, though. Having called out a few people for what Iāve considered bad posting, it has made my experience on this forum less enjoyable and more frustrating 100% of the time.
I now get snide remarks consistently from some of them, which is what it is, if thatās the price of taking a stand, so be itā¦ But I can see why someone might not want to do it on their regular account.
That said, it would be more effective on their own account.
Being kind to each other is not a bad thing and finding easier ways to be mean without consequences is not a good thing. If you feel strongly enough that you have to call someone out, then do it, but there being some barrier to overcome is part of what makes for a slightly better environment here.
It also prevents certain things from getting called out when they are issues within a lot of posts from a lot of the community and people are afraid to ruffle feathers. I also think this gimmick prevents some dogpiles. Itās kept me from piling on a few times, because I feel like the point was clearly made and I can just like that post.
But being against this gimmick is kind of like defining acceptable ways to protest bad posting of all kinds in this community.
Sure.
Seems to me comedic protest that is quick, takes up one line, and does not derail a thread should be pretty non-controversial.
Ok. Insofar as itās amusing, and it is somewhat amusing, itās cool. Jokes are probably the most important part of this site or the internet generally.
