"Missing" persons and other murder mysteries

Saw this yesterday. It’s terrifying because it seems super unlikely/impossible that they all died at the same instant, which means either the parents were still alive when the kid died, or vice versa. Also it seems weird that the dog was still there, which raises the possibility that it was either stuck on a leash, or stayed after its people died and then died itself. Ugh.

They were all found together too right?

Whole thing just seems strange as fuck. Wonder if the baby died first, then a parent, and the other refused to leave them?

My recollection is the father was found in a seated position and the others were around him.

I too wondered about hypothermia but it must apply to being overheated too. Maybe it just relates to extreme temperature?

Not a doctor or medical expert but I’m pretty sure it’s just people reporting it as hypothermia when it was actually hyperthermia

Yes, this is correct. They died of hyperthermia (high temperature). Hypothermia is dying of cold.

That makes sense

I’m not in agreement with any conspiracy theories wrt dead body in the swamp. I assume DNA tests will be done to make absolutely sure in the days to come, but nothing about these people screams criminal mastermind to me. That swamp is also very very hostile to human life. The dipshit wasn’t found because he went straight to green hell and tried to hide out.

My guess is that his parents bought him a burner phone and were communicating with it. They probably hadn’t heard from him in however long it’s been since he either died from exposure or killed himself.

These people aren’t professional criminals. This is a 100% standard domestic violence homicide into someone trying to run from the law and doing it dumb. The reason he was hiding out in this particular place is that it was relatively close to home. If he had tried to make a run for Mexico or whatever he probably would have been caught and quickly. Instead he went somewhere worse than prison and died there.

His parents helped because they’re his parents. They’re probably going to have some pretty serious legal trouble as a result. They probably did know where he was in the swamp, which is probably why they were the ones to find the body. They probably knew he wasn’t going to be alive since he had stopped texting/calling them from the burner phone.

Honestly this entire story being so big has annoyed me more or less since it broke. There are literally hundreds of thousands of official missing people in the US, and you gotta assume more unreported. Obviously I’ve got plenty of sympathy for the victims family here, but the spotlight on this case was never about anything but true crime enthusiasts getting all hot and bothered about a dead attractive white woman with a social media following.

Yeah pretty sure his parents knew where he was the whole time until they didn’t hear from him anymore.

This is when they called the police and reported him missing. They still wouldn’t talk about gabby but wanted them to find Brian. I suspect they were not completely forth coming with the police until the other day when they chose to go there themselves.

I do y blame them for protecting their son. My issues all relate to how they treated her family.

This is gonna be a great Netflix docuseries someday.

I think the conspiracy theories itt are just people fucking around

I think the wife was found 100 feet up the trail. My guess is the baby was in trouble and the husband and wife panicked and started racing up the exposed switchbacks in 109 degree heat, possibly out of water because they’d been pouring it on the baby. The wife might have decided to try to get help but not made it very far in a delirious panic.

I think in any other scenario but worry about the baby, they would have turned around and gone the long way back, or found shade and waited for nightfall.

Taking a baby on a hike when it’s over 100 is just lolwtf.

Super sad though.

One thing I just thought of is, how do you not let the dog off the leash sometime before you die? I guess maybe they thought they were just going to nap until night and didn’t want the dog getting lost?

Just really sad and stupid

Yeah they probably imagined having to search for the dog. The hike started out relatively cool. They didn’t realize it was going to get so hot. At some point on the descent when it started getting hot they needed to realize it was time to turn around.

I don’t like hikes where you go down first for this reason. At least going up you can always just turn around if you get exhausted.

Yeah I just seen it started out as 70s. That’s much more understandable. Still didn’t have enough water but damn. I can see how it happened now.

So he was under surveillance and the cops were incompetent, real shocker

you ever do the Grand Canyon rim to rim hike?

No I’m pretty sure I’d need a donkey for that.

Someday I hope to lose 50 lbs and work my way up to Cactus to Clouds. 8-10k elevation gain depending on if you hike to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, or just to the tram.

Pretty crazy that she was found alive after 17 days. More to come I’m sure but 36 year old with no familial connection in custody.

The four-year-old vanished from the Blowholes campsite near Carnarvon on 16 October.

Would have never guessed there may have been some weirdos hanging out here.

Laundry family attorney says Brian Laundry killed himself with a gun.

I suspect his parents will have a lot of regret due to how they handled all this.
