"Missing" persons and other murder mysteries

Apparently Laundrie flew home to Florida on August 17 a few days after the police encounter in Utah. He spent 6 days there, cleared out a storage unit? And then flew back to Utah on August 23.

Far more detail here from one of the Case Breakers. This guy sounds entirely reasonable and believable to me?

A spokesman for North Port Police previously confirmed to Insider that Laundrie was under surveillance when he vanished.

So he was being watched and somehow disappeared anyways

This was always the craziest. He paid for a last minute round trip flight to move a storage to his dad’s house instead of paying for another month of storage.

Totally suss

But I mean what could have been in there?

Or you think he used that time for planning or something?

I don’t know what was going on. I assume they were fighting and he left to take a break. I believe she stayed in a hotel during this time.

I just don’t by the explanation as to why he went home it’s not plausible. I think he is trying to cover up anything that indicates any sort of domestic fighting. That is why that police stop is so problematic and may have been the reason he bolted.

Obviously I want this to be true, but even if he was hiding there do they think he’s just under the dirt, like not in a bunker or something?

I dunno b/c I’m finding it very difficult to put myself into the kind of mindset that could even arrive at this possibility.

So Laundrie offed himself, right?

I mean how does a guy go this long without a trace with everybody in law enforcement looking for him.

It would be odd to not just kill yourself but to so it in secret hoping nobody finds you. But yeah seems highly unlikely he’s been able to avoid law enforcement this long alive

counterpoint: The police were following him the best the could legally and seem to have had no clue about anything.

If Rudolph made it 5 years I’m taking the over.

I think Whitey Bulger was on the loose for 16 years before he got caught. Of course, it’s probably harder these days, plus he likely had a lot more connections willing to help than this guy does.

@Fatboy8 had a plausible theory upthread that the guy is hunkered down for the winter months somewhere off the southern part of the Appalachian Trail with a big box of MREs and some light supplies.

I mean, he had a couple weeks head start on alarm bells being raised, right? And a long car ride home from Montana or wherever to completely and exclusively focus on the intricacies of a getaway plan.

IMO the Florida nature preserve is a well executed distraction. He mustered up some “evidence” that he’s in there given that the Federales are STILL combing through that area.

I bet he’s in the other direction, eating jambalaya out of a bag somewhere in Tennessee.

Still saying he’s in Mexico.

That wasn’t me with that theory. Somebody else.

My theory is he’s hunkered down in the basement of Comet Pizza. Nobody would think to look there. They don’t even have a basement!
