Battery vs No Leaf Clover was really tough. Two completely different songs but both great. Had to go No Leaf CloverāāAnd it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnelā¦ is just a freight train coming your wayā is just too perfect of a lyric for 2020.
Am I reading the brackets wrong or did you set them up so that the 1 and 2 seed in each group face off in the 2nd round? Iām assuming thatās an error.
This has been a fun thread by the way, havenāt listened to Metallica in years. As someone born in the mid 80s, by the time I knew of them it was all about the black album and the albums that were predominant in my teenage years were load, reload, and S&M. While I listened to the songs everyone knew from the old albums but never dug super deep into them. This probably colors my perception of Metallica much differently than most of the people here.
I voted Damage Inc just to fly the Master of Puppets flag, I knew For Whom The Bell Tolls would win, so it should, itās a better song, but I do love Damage Inc.
Hearty lols at everyone voting Four Leaf Clover over Battery, what the fuck.
AJFA is just better but itās a shame to see the best song on Death Magnetic go down to an average song from their glory years.
I think Hit the Lights > Unforgiven 2 easily but I can see how you could think Hit the Lights isnāt that great, I just really like the main riff.
haha yea fml, i just started from the top left and then went down and then went down the right side, i musta not been thinking when i did that.
Iāll fix it up before we start the round of 32. Iāve never built a tourney from scratch really.
Also I was born in 86 and didnāt really get into metallica until i was 18 or so, I like a broad spectrum but it def shades towards black album style, I donāt really like Kill em ALL and songs like Battery and such just donāt do it for me. Meh, it is what it is.
And I actually like Ride the Lightning alot, probably my favorite pre black album for sure. AJFA just seems like garbage outside of āOneā tbh, and its not really the Metallica style differences though as RTL and AJFA are clearly similar in style than the black album etc.
Iām generally surprised by how many people like RTL over AJFA and KEA. RTL has 3 absolute GOAT songs in For Whom The Bell Tolls/Fade To Black/Creeping Death, perhaps you can add the title track to that but I donāt. Then you have a polarizing instrumental in Call of Ktulu, Trapped Under Ice is fun but nothing spectacular, and few people even know that Escape is a song on the album. I donāt like Fight Fire With Fire that much, so I guess if youāre into that then that could tip the scales, but KEA has 2 GOATs in Four Horsemen/Seek & Destroy, and then their sub goat offerings crush RTL.
