Metallica Tournament

St. Anger vs. Until It Sleeps?

Talk about having to pick your poison.

Halo on fire surprised me but Fuel is too good.
I’m a big fan of The Day that Never Comes, can’t get behind instrumental Call of Ktulu.
Blackened and Disposable Heroes, IDGAF, don’t like either really.
I like St. Anger and Until it Sleeps, kinda sad they matched up but I’ll go Until it Sleeps, music video is solid too.
Meh I’ll take spit out the bone, harvester sucks.

Blackened is a top 5 Metallica song for me. Not sure where in the top 5 it is, but it’s there without me having to think about it (and it was the impetus for me buying my first Metallica album).

Harvester of Sorrow is a tough matchup for Spit Out the Bone, but Spit Out the Bone is as good a fast, thrashy song as they’ve ever written, I have it > Blackened for example, and I don’t say that lightly.

Also, Halo On Fire is a masterpiece, start to finish. The middle section is epic:

The ending is fucking inspired, the build, the line, the solo:

Voting for pop fluff like Fuel over Halo On Fire is reprehensible, so may God have mercy on your souls.

Blackened vs. Disposable Heroes is brutal, those are GOAT tier songs for me; voting Blackened for now but may reconsider.

The video for Spit Out the Bone appears to be a complex allegory about humanity’s battle against the novel Coronavirus. The guy with the shotgun is obviously Dr. Fauci. These guys bowing down the virus are anti-maskers:

The left side of this region is absolutely terrible. The best song here is still worse than like 6 songs from the left side of region 3.

Left side:

  • Nothing Else Matters sucks. There. I said it.
  • Leper Messiah by a little bit over Whiskey in the Jar.
  • Hardwired easily.
  • Halo On Fire, I guess? Who cares.

Right side:

  • Call of Ktulu for being an ass-kicking instrumental. Tough break for Day that Never Comes.
  • Blackened for sure, even though Disposable Heroes is also good.
  • Until It Sleeps? I don’t really care.
  • Spit Out the Bone is one of my favorite recent songs by them. Going to go with that.

Blackened vs Disposable Heroes is a rough one for me, both classics. Went Blackened in the end but feels bad man.

ok since it looks like one of my finalists was caught under wheels’ roll!!!.. replace Disposable Heroes with Bleeding Me

hhhhyeah!

I’ve been listening to Bleeding Me pretty much nonstop for the past 3 hours. It may be Goat.

I’ll be declaring a religious fatwah on any apostates.

Hot take: Metallica’s discography is deeper than Led Zeppelin’s

First round choices aren’t supposed to be difficult

Oh, Zeppelin are hugely overrated imo. Were fine when I was in HS, easy to grow out of.
Voted a few times in there, but avoided commenting due to this.

Confession time - until yesterday I really hadn’t listened to the Hardwired album.

On my second listen now and there is a definite increase in blood-flow to my genitalia. It’s like a bridge between Justice and Black that showed up 30 years late.

It definitely sounds more like the Metallica of old than St. Anger
