In 4th place, scoring 12 (8,8) JohnnyTruant - My Prerogative by Bobby Brown
Holy shit, how long has this song been super awesome?Obviously the chorus line is great and memorable, but I forgot just how good the verses were in this song. I’ll admit, you got lyrics out of my head and into the quiet space around me. After listening to this 3 or 4 times, I was for sure that this was podium bound.
**In 3rd place - scoring 13 (9,9) Rivaldo - Can we Talk by Tevin Campbell **
Wait, really?
Reallllllllllllllllllllly?
Holy crap, you guys this is soooooooooooooooooooooo good.
Like, this almost took down the number 1 spot, but there are two songs that I knew were destined for 1 and 2, and each subsequent listen confirmed this, but holy crap, this one climbed and climbed and climbed. I had it as low as 10 on first listen.
In 2nd place, scoring 14 (9,10) King of NY - Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional
So just hear me out now.
This song rules. It also has a strong connection to when I was younger. This was the first song I ever cut together a movie trailer in my head to.
That… sounds weird, I know. But Its kinda something I do. Specifically with this, I cut together a movie trailer for The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass to this song. Roland looks into the pink grapfruit and screams at the climactic chord.
In 1st place, scoring 15 (10,10) Cassette - Kick Out the Jams by POTUSA
Much like in the last category, I got this early and was just waiting for anybody to step up and beat it.
Nobody did. I sing along from moment one and can’t stop moving.
For anyone who is only casually familiar with the POTUSA album because of songs like Kitty, Peaches, and Lump, seek out this album. Every single other song is better than the 3 singles that were released off of it, and this is probably my favorite.
