Major League Baseball (Part 2)

So, there’s no way the Giants are moving Matt Chapman off third base is there? Seems like they’ll be asking Devers to DH as well, but I don’t know.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Devers does whatever they ask him to do. He’s just mad Boston made him switch positions without asking him.

Does anyone else think Chapman’s injury might be worse than we realize?

I think I’m just sensitive to having a long term contract on a fat DH (Miguel Cabrera). If Devers had an alcohol problem I’d be even more triggered lol.

chapman is currently injured but yes, devers will play 3rd until he comes back then he’s the DH. We’ll see if next year they’re like hey go play first.

Devers is still the best power hitter they’ve had since like Bonds is why they made this move, they didn’t give up a lot. If the cubs weren’t cheapasses, they would’ve beaten that offer.

That contract though for a pure DH isn’t great and the Giants are on the hook for all of it so.

Giants have been looking for this kind of bat since they lost out on Arson Judge.

Two Aaron investigators gave that fire a clean bill of health, Artie

just dumping a franchise player for pennies into the most star-studded and World series ready division, presumably without shopping him around, seems super sus to me. especially the dodgers #2 rival (sorry the padres are just better)

they better be eyeing some big deadline deal or this just looks like complete nonsense

If it makes you feel better it’s very likely the end of this deal will be an albatross on the giants.

that probably was the best offer, there aren’t a lot of owners willing to go for big contracts like that midseason. especially for “not a team player” (perception anyway)

I take yahoo sources as dubious at best and screenshots of yahoo sources even dubiouser so take this for what you will but this isnt the first time ive seen something similar reported about him

pretty lol, lots of sox fans ive seen reacting are glad hes gone, just mad that they got basically nothing for it.

i for one cannot stand the red sox and will curse every HR he hits off LA pitching

i think this was the original source of that photo: Inside the 'absolute s*** show' that led to the Boston Red Sox's trade of Rafael Devers - Yahoo Sports

last year of it is 36 years old, might not be that bad. miggy didn’t fall off until 34, 37 was when the contract started turning really sour. hard to compare all that much, guys just vary as to when they fall off.

Miggy was also a lot better than Devers. His best season wouldn’t be in the top 11 or 12 of Miggy by wRC

I think people are in general angry at ownership and the front office, which is entirely justified. You can think Devers is a dick and be glad he’s gone while also seeing that the Sox fucked this whole thing up but good.

But to act like this is equivalent to the Mookie travesty is silly, and to equate it to Dallas/Luka is just absurd. He was not that guy at all.

100%. The process here was not good for the Red Sox. They aren’t too hurt from this either

The way I read it is, Devers is a clown and not a big deal to lose him with that contract. They can get someone (ala Bregman) in the off-season to replace his production. However the GM is also a total clown, and the organization is gonna be fucked unless the owners step in and make clear what they are doing. Right now it’s just power struggles among idiots.
