Major League Baseball (Part 2)

gm of the dodgers greatest job ever ya know a lot of our starting pitchers got injured, we don’t really need one but what’s our offseason budget? scrooge mcduck’s vault you say?

Snell padres->giants->dodgers

a little awkward but I think with the giant pile of cash he’ll be alright

is this the rotation? Yamamoto, Ohtani, Snell, Glasnow, Kershaw, Gonsolin, Stone, while also you have half the starting NL all star game lineup. and whoever else is in the farm, maybe even Sasaki.

the question I still have is why has dustin may been an all star potential starter for years but constantly sidelined by injuries as, and I’ll just list the latest one, as eating too much at a dinner and rupturing his esophagus.

SNELL YES 100% AS DODGERS HOMER

man, how is that possible, kobayashi didn’t even do that

The only reliable reports that have come out have been like “he ate a lot at a dinner” rofl

meanwhile the cubs… are trying to dump bellinger to save money cause owner is a penny pincher despite owning the cubs and there’s two OF prospects coming with nowhere to put them (the corner ones have no trade clauses) and meanwhile, at the deadline, they traded for a 3B who can’t hit HR’s in their ballpark when the top prospect they moved to 3B cause that’s where the big hole on the team was who now is kind of blocked for no good reason. I guess they’re trading the second baseman, who isn’t bad. again their best prospect who is going to be on this years team at some point got moved and spent a lot of time being developed at third because of said second baseman. GJGE you morons.

I guess they could flip bellinger to arizona for montgomery in a dual salary dump that both teams do have a hole for but I’m pretty sure the cubs want to reduce payroll.

Sure. Why the hell not?

At some point MLB has to do something about the Dodgers/Yankees basically signing every free agent they want. I know the player’s union will never agree to a salary cap, but this doesn’t seem sustainable long term. And I say this as a Yankees fan.

They are doing something. It’s called “counting the money.”

do they? the cap is actually pretty cap-y unless you have obscene amounts of money. The two best teams seemingly made it to the world series, how often does that happen in other sports? I don’t disagree, I feel bad for smaller market teams, because there’s no way you can compete with what is going on now.

Premier league is pay money = win titles

There is literally nothing stopping plenty of other teams from spending like this - other than that their owners just want to get rich(er).

Yeah, it sucks for the small market teams, but there really aren’t that many of them, it’s mostly just cheap teams. I would say do more revenue sharing, but you’d need entire overhaul as right now teams like the Marlins and A’s are just taking those revenue checks right to the bank and not spending on players.

MLB social media is in histrionics this morning about the snell deal. inject it into my veins. 2 years ago we were frauds, washed, etc. Now people are calling for an “investigation” into this “dynasty” LOL

In a way this is the most american sport ever. pure unbridled capitalism. Only missing all the slaves really.

The two best teams are the two best teams because they can buy the best players at a higher rate than teams with less money. This isnt hard to understand.

I never stated otherwise, but bear in mind, the Dodgers spent much less than the Mets or the Yankees, and ended up winning

dodgers payroll has been towards the top of the mlb for a while and they have 2 world series in nearly 40 years. angels payroll is ridiculous and they’re a joke. It clearly isn’t just about spending:

You dont get to push an $800 million contract 20 years out and then claim you spent less than other teams. You loopholed better. Its not the same thing

it’s $700 million and even if you count the $70 million a year they’re still right around the other teams they destroyed. The narrative that the dodgers won because they outspent everyone is simply false.

It’s not false

Only 1 team in 30 years outside the top 15 in payroll has won a World Series

With baseball. You spend a lot of money and that gets you into the playoffs

Once there it’s a variance fest for the teams left

But if you don’t spend you don’t get a shot at winning

Spending doesn’t equal a World Series but not spending does equal NO World Series.

I’m really hoping they land Soto now. Billion dollar contract mostly deferred or something.
