That riding had a lot of people running. The candidate for the Free Party of Canada has 428 votes so far. Marijuana Party also got some votes.

I guess all the party leaders have a bunch of random parties with a candidate in their riding for the exposure.

How many Conservatives gonna lose coz of the Peopleā€™s Party like the mup in Edmontonā€™s Griesbach riding?

NDP 41%
Conservative incumbent 36%
Peopleā€™s Party 7%

hehe.

Ignorant Question from US citizen: Is this a catastrophe for Trudeau or just a black eye?

I donā€™t think it is either of those. Probably more like a shrug.

This election seems to have been mostly a waste of time and money which is what most people thought when it was announced. A sigh of relief that it didnā€™t backfire.

Think it depends how long he wants to be PM. If he only wanted one more term itā€™s kind of whatever, calling it then guaranteed a win, but they also probably expected better.

I thought it would be more. Like you, I voted orange in a guaranteed blue riding (St. Albert).

What a waste of time that was.

A liberal won in Calgary!

This was actually a pretty crazy election in Alberta. Double digit drop in conservative support and gains by ndp and liberals in a minority government year. Obviously, Kenny plays a big role in that but still some signs of a crack in our blue wall.

modest gains are still gains? sorry, as a shitlib american i see negative seats for conservatives anywhere and reflexively start opening budweisers to celebrate.

You guys seem to have the opposite thing we do - conservatives win popular vote, but liberals get more seats.

FPTP + districting continues to be stupid everywhere.

Itā€™s a bit more complicated as most of our conservatives would be left of your Democrats.

They didnā€™t have any seats at dissolution. Bernier got beat in 2019 as well.

It would be a small victory if this was a regularly scheduled election, but Trudeau called it himself solely to gain more power. That move damaged him and the Liberal party more than the results would indicate. It does give us a couple more years of stability, but I donā€™t think it bodes terribly well for the next election.

The other problem is that the Cons have gone with lame ass boring half measure duds for two elections and lost. The pressure will be on them to pick a fire brand that will attack attack attack. That opens the door for a Ford Family style politician in the Proudly Ignorant Conservative mold. Or we might just get a mouthy mainstream Con like Rempel or Poilievre.

Kenney is least popular politician in Canada right now. He may get booted from his own party. Lol.

Iā€™m crushed.

Hopefully his calamity will allow Notley to get back in as premier. I worked a ton for her campaign last two times.

Lol Kenney just threw cabinet under the bus including naming a new health minister.

Scramble mode engage!

I told my wife there was a cabinet shuffle in Alberta and she replied, ā€œOh, did they finally shuffle Kenney out?ā€
