LOL LAW

I’d still prefer to be a banker/trader type. Every Wall Street (or Bay Street in Canada) investment firm lawyer I’ve ever met is absolutely miserable. You basically argue all day with your sales people to try to get them to stop telling clients they will get high guaranteed returns, then you spend all weekend defending lawsuits against the salespeople that tell clients they will get high guaranteed returns, and in the rest of your spare time you argue with other lawyers about contract terms like “if the fund goes down we get to come over to your office and kick you in the nuts”. It’s a pretty awful existence, although the ones making $10+ million per year can just do it for a while and the fuck off to grow strawberries on a farm upstate.

On the other hand the banker/trader people get to party with clients and generally their job is more fun with SALES and DEALS, not to mention the delight they take at punishing the laywers by refusing to take their advice.

Ah well, everyone knows actuary is the best job anyway. We ain’t rich, but we’re happy.

Being a lawyer that does document negotiation seems like an absolutely horrendous job, just mind numbing and half the time you get overruled by your client anyway. Nobody involved appreciates you and you’re literally expected to be available 24/7. Almost every one I know is divorced and/or has substance abuse and/or mental health issues. The culture in those firms is absolutely awful too.

Plus knowing exactly when you’re going to die has to be cool

Serious question, do you understand just how counterproductive posts like this are?

In before “$15 million a year isn’t even that much in NYC”.

(Twitter lawbro pointing out that former(?) head of the Wagner Group was named in the Muller Report. Somehow, I doubt that that case is of much concern to him atm)

Good to see a robust 2nd Amendment defense from the left.

6th Cir. holds that a prosecutor pressuring a key witness to destroy potentially exculpatory evidence in violation of a court order came within the traditional role of a prosecutor, so the prosecutor has absolute immunity from a civil suit.

My favorite part is that he gets immunity because talking to a witness is covered under the traditional role of prosecutor and the additional citation is a prosecutor given immunity for pressuring a witness to lie on the stand.

Dershowicz sanctioned. https://twitter.com/derektmuller/status/1679912957176578050?t=FZaIedbShm4JeJ3jR8v6Fg&s=19

this is the one where he insists he tried to sign “of counsel” and the clerk forced him to sign as just counsel, right? and then he wanted the court to delay proceedings so him and his other old guy grifter law buddies could write a law review article about how they should be allowed to sell their name as of counsel and be above sanctions… and then he wanted that not yet written law review article to somehow become persuasive…

what a fucking brain wormed clown he became…
