I’ve already told you I know these things.
Well, the real left cannot do the same things. There’s enough money for some short bursts like a Bernie campaign, but the money for a sustained expensive program is not there. For Dianne Feinstein kinda dems? Yeah, but not for the left.
I guess someone could come in and say “unions”, but for the most part lol.
Don’t they regularly out raise their opponents though? I thought Nina massive outraised her opponent
If any of these billionaires actually want to leave a legacy that matters, funding a leftist Koch network would have massive potential influence. Buffet could leave 1% of his wealth for this purpose and make a huge difference.
Lol. Didn’t bill gates say he wouldnt know who to vote for if warren won the primary because of her wealth tax?
That’s crazy. Turner has a ton of negatives that most progressives won’t have. But if you were expecting a mass movement towards progressives with Biden in the White House… yeah that’s not happening but that was pretty obvious even if Turner won. It didn;t even happen with Trump in the White House.
Civil unrest is bad for business. Corporate interests like stability and predictability. The most effective tool the left has at it’s disposal is the threat of civil unrest (which doesn’t have to be violent but probably has to be scary enough to make the establishment fear violence). The left should be working to create a similar culture of outrage that the right-wingers have created on their side and appealing to emotion rather than intellect.
That’s not what happened. Turner’s campaign raised 4.5 million on it’s own. Lack of money was not her problem.
I mean massive suffering of poor people should appeal to people’s emotions but apparently the vast majority of Americans, even the vast majority of the left, are selfish assholes and don’t really give a shit.
Soros does donate a ton of money. He’s not a leftist though and neither is Buffet.
These people either
Forbes also found 16 new donors to Buttigieg’s campaign, including Walmart heiress Christy Walton and Kleiner Perkins legend John Doerr, along with the spouses of hedge funder Steve Cohen and Google cofounder Sergey Brin. Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan, reportedly cohosted a fundraiser for Buttigieg in December in concert with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and Wendy Schmidt, the wife of ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Earlier in the race, Shanahan donated $2,800 to the now-defunct campaign of Marianne Williamson.
The fewer people who care, the more that the people who do care should adopt tactics of asymmetrical warfare.
That video of Nina saying her vote was private was super cringe. #1 option - copy Glenn Greenwald’s answer before he made his full heel turn, “I thought Trump had zero chance and was mistaken…. my bad” #2 don’t do interviews where you could be asked the question #3 lie and say you voted for Hillary.
Lying is obvi bad but she pretty much lied anyway saying she didn’t think we were entitled to an answer.
leftists tried leftist am radio, didn’t work. leftists tried podcasts, got leapfrogged by youtube/fb. leftists tried their own superpacs, but they were way behind. they tried to go digital, but still using freaking obama email-marketing lists from 2008. like wtf. come 2024 leftists are really going to put all their eggs into a little startup called cambridge analytica or something. they are just not getting anyone worth their paycheck to work on this thing.
+1. That’s why the refusing to answer who she voted for in 2016 thing was so annoying. Like she already compared voting for Biden to eating shit. It’s too late to plead the 5th and she would have been much better just explaining her vote, even if she says she regrets it now.
You can’t get good people to take a job where they are getting paid to lose. The people doing the funding are only interested in paying the left to lose. Ergo the staff on the left is not going to be good.
Where are you seeing this? Why? I hadn’t heard of it before this morning. Seems utterly trivial. Whoever is pushing this story is doing that thing where Bernie wrote a weird essay a million years ago or had a house or Howard dean made a noise or Dennis Kucinich saw a UFO.
maybe, although if you are on a conservative christian or judicial propaganda outlet through the 80s and 90s, you probably felt like you were losing a ton, but you still showed up for work because decades later your boy Kav is on the supremes.
Leftists run like Pacifica radio and that’s it. The conservative networks own thousands of radio and TV stations and newspapers and the “liberal” media is owned by companies like Comcast. It’s not bad tactics. It’s lack of resources.
Kind of seems like a no brainer for a lefty candidate to just come out and say “I know a lot of people vote for the candidate that they think has the best chance of winning, even if they don’t agree with how that candidate will govern. I don’t subscribe to that line of thinking, I think people should vote for who they think will do the best job, and let the chips fall where they may.”
Like. Her winning DEPENDS on people having that mindset.
This argument is undermined by ranked choice voting in NYC selecting a fucking cop in a Democratic Primary. I’m 100% sure the voters are generally picking who they want. The problem is the voters full stop.
