Imo, the answer is this is the strategy that her 30 something year old prick Chief of Staff, or whoever advises her that she thinks is smart, came up with and the both of them are stubborn arrogant fucks who relish using a contrarian strategy that pisses everyone else off. And they are doubly sure of themselves under the “if you are so smart, how come we are the ones in office” theorem?

Sometimes I wonder what it would’ve been like if they let the Rs blow up the judicial filibuster in 2005 like they wanted instead of doing that Gang of 14 bullshit where they let the Rs get every single nominee they wanted (except for a token two) in exchange for preserving the right for the Rs to filibuster all future D nominees.
