Not having lived through that time myself, I often have to remind myself that not everyone in that generation was a Hippy. The narrative from that time is all about drugs, free love, and protests, but Iâm sure there were plenty of young adults at that time who either (a) actively supported the âcultureâ that the hippies were trying to âcounterâ or (b) were just kinda living their lives and checked out of the larger cultural upheaval.
For example, in 1969 my Dad was just starting as a school teacher in a small town. He was fresh out of the army (still had the crew cut to prove it), recently married to my Mom. His biggest concerns were things like paying the rent and remembering to mow the lawn. He didnât go to Woodstock and he was probably 100 miles away from any city that burned in the summer of '68. He was obviously aware of all of those things, but I think he was far enough removed from most of it that it didnât really transform him [and to the extent it did, it probably made him a bit more conservative by making cities seem like dangerous, violent places].
Tl/dr: even in the 60âs there were plenty of Boomers who used âSan Francisco valuesâ as an insult.

I think another part of the problem is that the younger generation who were demonstrating against the establishment never joined the establishment. It has to be changed from within
Thatâs one reason why the boomer generation as a whole was useless. They saw the racism. They saw the war machine and all the problems within the establishment and still didnât lift a finger to do shit about it. When they realized that they were going to be okay, they didnât give a shit

Honestly.will a one term senator get much? Be hilarious is they ghost her after she loses. I feel like the good lobbying gigs go to those who stick around and make a lot of connections. And she hasnât done shit for any specific industries.

Iâve been all in on saying she was just aiming for lobbying gigs, I mean how else do you not push for filibuster reform on voting rights to stop Arizona from making it impossible for you to win, but I really doubt she gets any big paying jobs after this after being a one term senator who doesnât have connections and hasnât greatly benefited any serious industries.
