Our only chance to return to something approaching normalcy was the use of the power of the state to swiftly and heavily punish everyone involved. We’re doing the exact opposite, and the fascists have rightly concluded it is a terminal free roll.
Agreed + Manifest Destiny. More plausible story is that we were the ones brainwashed during our childhoods that America is better than it’s history clearly indicates and that the arch of the moral universe is long but bends towards justice and shit.
More straightforward story is people in America arguably behaved a little better from from the 1970s to around 2001, and have been reverting back to form since.
Except with Trump is was all that but with more prideful ignorance. As bad as all the prior American conservative governments were, they were distinguishable from Idiocracy.
In some ways Idiocracy is better than traditional conservatism. Just today, George W Bush came out of the woodworks to oppose Afghanistan withdrawal.
