Naturally, now that Ds are doing what lefties said they wanted during the bipartisan commission fight, said lefties are finding ways to get upset again.

I don’t know who you’re referring to, but I have said many times here that I don’t want a commission of any type. It’s a colossal waste of time that is going to produce zero tangible results even if it’s done properly (and if Jim Clyburn’s quote is any indication, it’s going to be run terribly).

I don’t think I ever remember any lefty here wanting Trump to testify in front of a show-commission?

I think I posted that I don’t even want one because the only thing that’ll come out of it will be increased security state, more money spent to that, and more shitty laws added on to go after lefties. They will never punish the people who are responsible for this shit like Trump, Flynn, dark money funds that organized the event and the people behind that shit just to name a few

Lol they’re 100 years old and already obscenely rich, absolute sociopaths

Onion :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
I remember a decade ago watching 60 minutes where her and Jon Boehner were for sure guilty of some insider trading and faced no consequences.

Traditional insider trading only applies to corporate officers. People who hear info from them can trade freely unless it’s a conspiracy. Congress recently passed a law not allowing Reps and maybe their staff to use inside info.

This is very wrong. No person is allowed to trade in securities where they possess material non public information that influences the stock price.

Nobody is allowed to trade on material non-public information IF they know the source has a duty not to disclose/trade. The cases to illustrate this in law school are (1) a guy working in the printing shop who sees the annual report early (can’t trade because he knows or should know the insiders/company can’t trade) and (2) Barry Switzer “overhearing” (lol he actually did blatant insider trading but whatever) material non public information in a luxury box (no idea if the source has a duty).

The rules are stupid and easily gamed. Steve Cohen insider traded his way to $10 billion. Now he owns the Mets.

Surprised Bloomberg hasn’t had this account taken down.

Did not know this. These Republicans really need the fucking guillotine. Pelosi you say? Dick Durbin you say?

I agree. And, like tax evasion, even in blatant cases it doesn’t matter if there is zero appetite for enforcement.

But just to be perfectly clear - no one should operate under the belief that only corporate officers can get charged with insider trading. That is definitely not true.

Yeah, voter education. That should do it.

So…

Super DUPER fucked then?

Completely hopeless.

Imagine rolling with VOTER EDUCATION in 2021. If it didn’t mean the destruction of the country I live in it would be a lot of fun to point and laugh at the idiocy.

A big problem with voter education is the more educated the people are the less they’ll want to vote for the Dems.
