Eventually there will be no genetic discrimination and all non-professional sports will be open division.
Iâm not following this super closely, but youâre the first person Iâve seen who has said that is the only problem.
I wish Biden was more pro-trans. I guess Iâm just saying the practical, on the ground, effect of this EO is basically zero.
Itâs just horrible politics in the same way that Hillary outlining a 75-point-plan as an answer to a simple question is terrible politics. The correct political answer to states doing trans bans is simply âfuck youâ at this point in time. Instead, Big Brain Brandonâs order is the maximally suboptimal position where people like me read it as âtrans people are still banned from sportsâ while white nationalist Christofascists read it as âa (probably black) child molester with a penis is going to steal a college scholarship or gold medal from my white Christian daughter.â
Bring on the all PED leagues. Letâs get weird with it. NFL players already give up their health for this dumb shit letâs create some real mutants.
Seems like a lot is riding on the term âfreelyâ here
I suppose we may need to have a carve-out for the Special Olympics, but even that makes me blanch a bit. The othering is palpable.
Iâd totally be in favour of this if it didnât incentivize children to take PEDs.
Iâd love seeing a giant bicep smashing a 1000 foot home run in the World Series.
Itâs the same as any prohibition argument. PED use is already rampant at all levels of amateur sports
Thatâs because youâre not reading this EO the way our Christofascist administrators and judges will read it.

The trans community is already under attack most places is my point. Trans people were betrayed by the Democratic party long before this EO.
I donât think itâs a good thing what Biden did. I just have serious doubts it changes anything. Judges going to judge and legislators going to legislate regardless of what Biden does and itâs mostly bad anyways.
Iâve legitimately learned a ton from discussing this issue with people on UP. Iâve ultimately settled on my viewpoint being that this issue is mostly getting way overblown, and the governing bodies for each individual sport will largely do a good enough job of regulating rules for elite level competition that it isnât an issue that needs a ton of further discussion.
I just think this line of thinking is so hilariously tone deaf and dismissive of women athletes and the idea of womenâs athletics that it is worth reconsidering.
Like, imagine going up to Serena Williams or Billie Jean King or Anikka Sorenstam and saying âWell actually, your disadvantaged Chromosomes for athletic competition were only one of many genetic factors that contributed to your athletic ability. Because your titles didnât come in open competition against truly the best athletes of your time, your titles donât really mean anything.â
Anyone who whines to me about transgender athletes just gets hit with âname three of themâ and then a subsequent GTFO. This is a non-issue crafted out of nothingness because fascists want to rack up âwinsâ and thatâs easiest when targeting vulnerable minorities. Itâs incredibly gross - but not surprising - to see the Dems throw transgender people to the wolves because theyâre tired of all the howling.
A transgender person is more likely to be murdered or complete suicide than they are to win a significant sporting event. Itâs just horrifying to see the two parties working together to make that ratio worse.
100%
A far as trans athletics competing, I donât think itâs going to affect womenâs sports very much - but the states are probably going to counter with some horrid shit, anyway. Youâve got a very small % of folks who are trans and then youâve got a fraction of those who play competitive sports so itâs not like that many issues are going to arise anyway and the ones that you have had were already pressed to the max at this point. But I would def agree that there is a different between cutting off very much needed access to healthcare for trans folk and discussing adequate requirements for certain sports.
I thought it was millions of folks. Maybe a small percentage, but not negligible.
Not sure if a troll or not but 5% of young adults in the US identify as transgender so the number of actual transgender people just in the US is millions. Probably more like 15-20m.
To be clear, that number includes nonbinary, which, for the purposes of sports, for the most part, the sports issue doesnât come into play, because the ignorant people just treat them like cis kids.
Ok. at a bare minimum 2% or what 8 million people just in the us?
Okay, but 2% of an average size school of 500 kids? Maybe 10% of those participate competitively in a sport? Thatâs one person.
