The Biden administration on Thursday proposed new regulations that would allow schools to bar transgender athletes from participating in competitive high school and college sports, but disallow blanket bans on the athletes that have been approved across the country.

That is Bidenâs great compromise. Although Supreme Court disallowed WV from banning trans females from playing sports.
I donât get it. The Biden Administration said states canât ban trans athletes from sports but actually they can ban trans athletes from sports? Cool story.
Just no blanket bans. You can individually ban each one.

Itâs trying to make some silly technocratic compromise⌠Basically, theyâd tell a state that it can ban all trans folks from participation at all levels, but weâll allow bans in some cases if you can show a specific need in a particular sport, or for individuals who are Trans and also meet some other criteria (like, maybe testosterone levels over a certain amount). The Biden administration would argue that preventing blanket bans allows access to more people, but imo theyâre really just setting up a game of legal whac-a-mole where state legislatures, ALEC, and the courts get to play a semantic game about what constitutes a âcomplete banâ vs âhealth and safety standards that just happen to apply to basically every Trans person.â

Arguably, this could be a good political strategy if it causes Republicans to repeatedly over-reach.

I donât know the right answer to this and thought Dems didnât either. Just figured Republicans were stating that Dems are in favour of allowing trans women to compete in womenâs sports, while Dems never actually said this.
It isnât the leftâs stance that male sex, female gendered people can compete in womenâs sports is it?
It is. Obviously.
I donât know what the correct answer is to hermaphrodites competing as women in sports that have physical advantages based on sex/hormones, but I definitely know in those same sports that male sexed individuals should not be able to compete in womenâs events.
I think the leftâs position is that anything that comes within sniffing distance of discrimination is wrong.
Luckily itâs not up to you. Unfortunately it is up to 80 year old Joe Biden.

In 2022 alone, 8 red states passed laws limiting/prohibiting trans individuals from sports participation. I donât think they needed any extra motivation.
I donât want to get into a debate here since Iâm bad at them and wonât change any oneâs mind, but that feels like a slippery slope to ending competitive womenâs sports altogether.
