Let's fight about artists with one clear *best* song

There’s no reason or rhyme for me wrt studio or live preference, but at that age for me, the deviation and extension from the studio version into totally uncharted territory was epiphanous

Everybody got to deviate from the norm.

Yes, their ability to improvise around a theme was one of the things that I found exhilarating about them. The early BBC sessions from 1969 were a revelation.

they just added riffs, and yeah had an extended jam for a bit

I guess seeing Page-Plant in 1995 or so isn’t brag worthy. I also saw “The Who” sometime around then. Unfortunately I wasn’t very cool or independent when I was 13 before the drummers died.

The extended solo in Stairway knocks spots off the original imo. But in general yes I agree.

Since I been Loving You is Goat

studio, you nerds, does not include gorgeous Indian wimminz in full hypnotic surrender to the band with commiseration from a knowing friend close by

now you listen, just you listen

there’s so much nuance it’s unreal… like Plant diggin’ what Page is doing at 27:15, and lettin’ it show

holy shit that last chord by Pagey, then the keys from JP

what is this magic??!!

Jimmy Page guitar!

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

The older sister of an old mate of mine (who’s now sadly dead) used to go out with Jimmy Page. Mate shared a line of coke from the bonnet of Pages Bentley/Rolls with him at an outdoors gig lol (the concert for Ronnie Lane).

Which brings us back to Rod Stewart and Maggie May.

it’s the stream of consciousness game!

learned bonnet equals hood

had to look up a few words reading earlier ahah

Looks like Pagey is really concerned about Elvis Costello fans in the employ of Rolling Stone Magazine

Oh what misery without quarter from the mighty Zep

Rounders was an entirely forgettable movie but it absolutely nailed the fan service angle. IIRC there’s one shot where you can clearly see Matt Damon has a copy of Super System or something like that and the 22 has been jizzing itself over Rounders ever since.
