Deep down in the depths of my cold, mostly dead soul lies the tiny kernel of a romantic. That tiny kernel loves A Tale of Two Cities, but for pure quality of writing and story, I have to agree with Great Expectations.
Liking for the expansion of thread to authors, but Bleak House is probably best.
Kubla Khan Coleridge
Don Juan Byron
Ozymandias Shelley
Tam o’ Shanter Robert Burns
Tintern Abbey Wordsworth
^ this is the original best x from a non one hit wonder game
Keats Ode on a Grecian Urn most iconic, Ode to a Nightingale best
^ iconic/best sub-game
Hmm, i think Rime of the Ancient Mariner is better (or more iconic, maybe), but i can go with it
Note a big fan of Rime tbh, don’t like the short ballad stanzas and meter, it gives it a certain pace I guess, but Kubla Khan is just so flowy and energetic
I probably am not the person to do Picasso, because once you’ve seen this in person, there is nothing else of his that comes close. Hands down the most powerful piece of art I’ve ever experienced.
I know it is a 23 minute long song…
But best song by Genesis is Supper’s Ready.
Rounders is a shit film. Well, maybe too strong, but average at best.
I read somewhere that Matt Damon, not a huge star at the time, was working with Malkovich and he started doing that weird Teddy KGB Russian accent. During a break in filming Malkovich leant over to Damon and whispered “I’m a terrible actor” lol.
I’m also with Suzzer in not watching movies at home. As a result there’s a substantial list of classic movies I have never seen. I’ve never seen a Godfather movie, for starters. Not Goodfellas either.
+1 to Chris there. Rounders was not terrible, but not really good.
Goodfellas and the first couple Godfather movies otoh were very good.
It’s a question of classes. Sure compared to all movies Rounders is nowhere near the top. Compared to all gambling/poker movies it is clearly the best ever made.
I like GE but I’m firmly on Team of Two Cities

Omfg you need to go right fucking now and rent the Blu-ray rent the Blu-ray

Gambling includes The Hustler and Color of Money. Poker is probably a yes.
Rounders is better than both of those, especially colour of money.
Rounders is better than both of those, especially colour of money.
I’ve seen each once. I’ve seen Rounders too many times to fairly compare it to anything besides Die Hard or Demolition Man.

That “Colour” of Money is not an actual movie is the only reason you can still be allowed to post here.
Screw yankee spelling.
Idk what to tell you man. Like I said, it’s one of the biggest songs of all time (in terms of popularity, longevity, and profit for the writer/singer), and it’s a great song to boot. Not sure why it being Christmas themed matters.
Agreed. It’s the only song of hers that maintains such esteem across multiple generations. Frickin high school choirs sing All I Want for Christmas. Ask a twelve year old to sing All I Want for Christmas vs any other Carey song of your choosing.
Olds might prefer her debut days, and I’m among them, but AIWfC is the clear winner for her best song.
