Well, you’re going to like him, but after you watch a few, realize that he uses a different tuning for almost every song. I have no idea how he remembers all of it. Some of his songs are pretty easy to play and I learned quite a few and have completely forgotten them all. You can check out his tuning database here:

Well it’s mostly my opinion but I think Jack & Dianne is pretty much a pop song with catchy hooks and not a lot else going on. He has so many other great songs with superior song writing, lyrics, and musicianship. I’m guessing if I made a 20 song playlist of Mellencamp songs for myself, Jack & Dianne wouldn’t even make the cut. Although there is no arguing with the fact that it was certainly an iconic song for him.

Edit: wow I just looked up his songs peak chart positions and surprisingly Summer of '69 only peaked at 11 on the Canadian charts.
