My favorite response in these spots is generally something along the lines of "Perfectly healthy adults can decide whether or not to drive while intoxicated. Err on the side of freedom!

Special fuck you to my asshole neighbor for setting off enormous fucking fireworks in the middle of a residential street at 10:00 when they’ve clearly been banned/prohibited, scaring the shit out of my children.

It’s like a war zone around and over my house right now. Apparently everybody is bored due to covid.
Thoughtfully, my neighbors have been blowing things up since late May, to get us all acclimated for the real thing.

Fireworks have been going off since 2pm. What is wrong with people.
It’s amazing how unexciting fireworks are when they’ve been going off sporadically for six hours straight. Aren’t we all just done with this at this point? Who is hyped to see another firework right now? Good job, America, you’ve ruined the timeless joy fireworks through excessive overconsumption.
I truly don’t get it. They’re super dangerous, they aren’t pretty, they last like 5 seconds, they’re expensive, just pure USA stupidity distilled to its core. I have never in my life felt particularly patriotic but right now I absolutely hate this shithole country.

Yeah, same thing in my neighborhood. Lots of of the big ones going off. My dog hates fireworks.
I actually don’t understand the hatred toward them bc it seems like it’s only started this year? Maybe I’m wrong there but I don’t remember reading anti-firework takes any other year (and I’m talking outside of this board, too). They don’t bother me. I loved em as a kid and people can have fun for a day.
Yeah, it’s great fun for a day. Thing is they’ve been going off for weeks and we’re all just sick of this shit at this point. I’m in the Midwest, I’m used to people occasionally popping a few off a week before and after the 4th, but this non-stop barrage is unprecedented.
That makes sense. Other than today, I haven’t heard any (minus a few last night) so that’s why I’m good. I’m sure I’d be just as annoyed as you if they’d been going on for weeks or longer.
Finally watching Hamilton. Holy shit is it good. I had been figuring it was one of those things that aren’t actually good but that smart people like anyways. Infinite lols at me…

I’m not a huge muscial guy and I think it’s prettay good.
I think the great genius of Lin-Manuel Miranda is that he managed to create a musical where he was very likely the worst singer (he can rap just fine, but the others had better singing voices imo) of all the male characters, gave himself the lead, and still crushed the execution of everything so much that he ended up making the GOAT musical.
100x more than I remember in 20 years. My dogs were going nuts. Turning the tv way up helped drown the sound and calm them down. Sorry to hear about your kids. They will go from scared to must see them in know time at all I’m sure.

11:25 PM, fireworks still going off. At this point people are firing them off just to be assholes. I’ve never seen anything like this. We’ve created a society where you can be a complete asshole and annoy everyone in your neighborhood for hours with no consequence. Anyone who makes it alive out of 2020 and is still a libertarian is a moron of the highest order.
