jfc that takes me back. Poor old Wimpy.
Probably a couple of years before my time - chips from the chippy nearest our school were 12p I think.
Ultimately the most reliable memories people have of prices are of a pint. My first pints were about 35p. I remember agreeing with a mate that if it ever reached £1 a pint we’d stop drinking.
Yeh that sounds brilliant.
When I started working in the NHS in the mid 1980s there was a social club with a non-profit bar in a basement in Gower St that didn’t have to pay rent or anything so prices were dirt cheap, AND a half price happy hour (actually 90mins) between 5.30pm and 7pm meant you could get a pint of Tennents Extra for 35p, so of course I’d just roll up and order 6 for the night for ~£2 lol.
That’s what happens when you ninja edit.
I remember when a McDonalds opened up in our High Street not far from the Wimpy. I don’t think it lasted another year. Shame.
Having had her probably awful next book dropped by its intended publisher because of her horrible views, Burchill found another publisher.
Now the one-person company prepared to publish it has been dropped by Burchill herself, for…wait for it…being white nationalist.

I kinda take offense to her being described as a Punk Rocker. She was a shitty music journalist who wrote shitty articles about punk bands occasionally.
