I follow a couple of journalists from there as I think they’re good on the ME, but that all seems to hinge on the reputation of that Japanese magazine. Weird that it is not more widely reported if it’s reliable.

It’s not great. Either way the article is just a bunch of stuff the dude found on google while in quarantine in Israel. It’s not like he has a source or did any investigating journalism.

I thought the original story came from Hong Kong via someone in the Chinese government, allegedly.
What I’ve seen is originally it was a bunch of NK defectors who run Daily NK, quoting one source inside NK. Loads of supposed sources here and there after that, though.
My only suspicious tingle is we have not seen him in public. For the type of leader he is that is highly unusual. You would expect him to make an appearance to reassure / intimidate North Korean citizens.

Off topic, but after seeing Steve Buscemi’s name, it took me a second to identify him. I think that’s him in extensive makeup/prosthetics, second from the right (our right) giving side-eye to the man of steel?
That’s definitely him but I’m not sure how much prosthetic help he’d have needed.
