How wild would it be if they just decide to fake him being alive. Release a few fake photo shoots every couple of weeks.

I was thinking that you’d find people and have them get plastic surgery to look like you.
I mean you could set it up so it looks like you never age.
If you’ve ever been within 30’ of a person with massive plastic surgery - you know the technology is not quite there yet.

Yeah. This seems trivially easy to mislead. Perhaps a public filmed statement discussing something current would be actual evidence but seems like that never happened even when everyone thought he was alive.
By this North Korean standard I can prove both my parents are still alive. I have pictures of them eating at a Cracker Barrel this morning.

I found out today that the Korean restaurant we’ve been getting takeaway from a lot recently is the self proclaimed “only North Korean restaurant in Europe”. It says that “our chef, with his 20 years of experience, will prepare the best specialties of the Hermit Kingdom. All our preparations … follow traditional North Korean recipes.” It’s bloody good whatever it is, I can particularly recommend the blood sausage (abai sundai) and the spicy pork.

The thing about keeping up a charade where he’s dead, but you want to pretend he’s alive is that there’s a power vacuum to be filled, and the people responsible for the charade are the ones best poised to fill it. Sure, maybe someone right now is content being the person behind the curtain running things and using the charade for it, but their co-conspirators might get to thinking they don’t like that arrangement as much.

The move comes just hours after the North renewed threats of military action against the South.

I read they’d put out a press release yesterday saying that office, a de facto embassy apparently, would be completely destroyed, (or words to that effect.) I chuckled at what I took to be over the top language for how firm they were about shutting it down, guess I should have realised NK does not fuck about.
It’s pretty sad what seems to be happening. No real surprise given how stupid and superficial the US involvement was, but it seems somewhat likely a genuine chance at strengthening diplomatic relations between the two Koreas, (that was supported by the majority of South Koreans,) has been squandered. Worth adding that whilst Trump’s involvement was typically useless, from the coverage it all got there’s no reason to suppose a generic Democrat would have done any better.

Based on what happened with Iran and Cuba, I would say Obama would have had a good chance of helping the process. Some other Dems, probably not.
