If bob hadn’t mentioned his prior gig, I’d have thought the same thing.
But I don’t intend “just another guy” to be as negative as you think. I posted a bunch about this upthread, but I’m of the opinion that the vast majority of the people who auditioned for the job can, though repetition, practice, and someone coaching them, become perfectly fine hosts. Ken, Joe Buck, that CNN guy, Levar, etc.
I guess some might say Mayim is failing that. I haven’t seen her college tournament episodes yet. After Amy went down, I’ve got a bunch of unwatched episodes on the DVR left to watch.
It’s not so much me, it’s the wife. She gets the whiplash bigly. She also doesn’t like if it I watch it without her. We skip most of the tournaments, so that helps us catch up. But we will probably watch the college one.
The game always rebounds. This is an awful combination of an incredibly likeable super champ leaving coupled with Miyam fucking Bialik coming back to host that has just shattered interest amongst people who enjoy good gameplay and little interaction from the host. I most likely wont be making this appointment television again until she leaves.
I thought she was good enough. Not my cup of tea, but I could see others liking her.
I just watch it for the questions and to play along. Strong game play and good host are nice bonuses but they don’t really affect my desire to watch very much at all.
I may be a bit hyperbolic, but I really dislike her hosting. She adds so many little asides and comments that I just dont give a shit about and it makes me roll my eyes every time. Doing that 5-10 times per game gets really grating.
Ken really found the groove and mayim doesn’t have the pace yet, she’ll hesitate to rule an answer correct for like a half second and it bothers me. Also the jokey asides aren’t doing anything for me either
To be fair, she’s not terrible and can technically perform the job, it’s just that small differences in this role are magnified and can alter the feel and timing of the show significantly. Seems like I’m watching the AA Chattanooga version of Jeopardy when she’s on the mound.
Lady gets a late-ish DD and Ken says she can take the lead. She says her inner yolo is thinking about it but….she delays, hems and haws and Ken finally prompts her she shrugs and goes $2,000 and gets it right.

Our returning mohawk champ wagers 800 from third. Gives himself no chance. Doesn’t even try to win. 2nd place wagers 9999 putting herself needing a get and a miss from 1st. Better to play for the triple stumper her and wager small.
