All the money that the save by gutting USAID is going to end up going to farm subsidies.
One thing I have learned from a career in the retirement industry is that the mismanagement of retirement assets is very common. People like to live at the maximum consumer lifestyle they can get approved for and will tap into their 401(k)s at the slightest disruption.

When I bought my house for $209k I had been approved for $700k. The realtor thought I was insane. I almost had to force him to let me buy it.

I sold cars for about 3 months when I got laid off from corporate job in 2001. They whip out the âfour squareâ in training class and Iâm all like lol, who buys a car like this? They looked at me like I had grown a horn in the middle of my forehead.â
Sure enough, in my time on the floor, I had maybe two customers that asked questions about the bottom squares. Everyone else? âHow much down, how much a month?â Rich, poor, educated, didnât matter.

Not even a little bit surprising that a guy formerly making 140k is tapping into retirement funds at the drop of a hat. IIRC something like half of Americans making 100k+ are living paycheck to paycheck thanks to standard USA#1 consumption habits.
