I see these Walruses as more of a way for us to share the music that we like with each other. I will only submit songs that I like even if I know a crap song that will rank higher for the category I’m submitting it for

It’s the only way to go. I would never submit a song I didn’t really like.

I also always assume I have the best taste anyway and everyone will come round to my way of thinking

This is how I do it. It’s obviously a terrible strategy if I want to win, but I have found a lot of good music from watching the reveals, so it’s an overall win either way.

Pre-play: Oh God, not a rock super group from the era of ten minute drum solos. I bet this is going to have lots of tedious and unimpressive Clapton guitar and over the top vocals.

During play: Wait a minute, that guitar’s nicely under control and happily taking a back stage at times, and what’s more there’s a really very nice, subtle part for violins: this is music, not the expected showmanship, but for some reason I’ve never been able to get along with Winwood’s voice.

This was me. I was apprehensive about submitting a Clapton superground track as I seem to recall you being disparaging about the FUCKING GREAT Derek and the Dominoes album before. Yours was the last category I filled and I didn’t have any better ideas, so surprised to be this high tbh.

Yo @LouisCyphre do you have any metal recommendations that are not any of the following:

• Super heavy (Machine Head’s heavier stuff is the limit)
• Growled vocals
• Reverby operatic vocals, just sing normally for Christ’s sake. Not keen on operatic production in general (that Nightwish track didn’t fare too well if you remember)
• Prog bullshit (Dream Theater probably the canonical example here)

As you can probably tell from the Machine Head reference, I’ve mostly listened to thrash, but I’m open to other genres.

This song is pretty cool but after seeing your taste in “chick rock”, I’m pretty surprised you won my walrus (technically I guess your wife won?). Seems like submitting Evanesence would’ve been an easy top 3 and I don’t know whether that’s supposed to be an insult or not.

Sweet someone submitted a Phantogram song AND it did well! Last band I saw in concert (to be fair the concert was kind of meh). Maybe my Pauwl walrus entry will do better than expected. I submitted them to cassette’s walrus and it bombed.
