He added “about things they care about”, which is a very important qualifier.
“Traffic was really bad, and that’s why I was late” is a lot different than “No, I didn’t stick it in Sally.”

Everyone has lied to thier partner about something they care about.
Literally 100% of people. Zero exceptions.

And having sex with someone else is close to the top of the list for a monogamous couple.
Yeah, everyone has committed a crime. Not everyone has committed murder.
Clovis, you clearly think cheating is much less of a big deal than the average person.

Agree it is. My secondary point is there is no reason behind odd cultural baggage that it should be.
Obviously I represent the extreme end of the spectrum on this point. I’m not going to convince everyone of my view but my last point will be
Holding politicians to this standard simply means you are asking to be lied to.
A huge number of otherwise good relationships end due this one act of cheating and rarely can people explain why that act is magically worse than other acts that would not be considered relationship extinction level.
Things aren’t so absolute and “cheating on a partner” isn’t all the same. It’s not good regardless, but it’s also a spectrum from people dating to being in a committed monogamous relationship where they share dependent children and are risking the quality of their lives because they want to touch someone else’s genitals.

If you consider sex as purely recreational rather than intimate, it makes sense that it’s a shrugworthy offense in a relationship. Some days I play basketball after work and some days I fuck my secretary, no big deal.
But that’s just not how the majority of humans work, and it has nothing to do with religion.

This is part of it for sure.
As I said I’m the extreme end but almost every relationship I’ve ever witnessed would be massively improved if they moved a little bit closer to my end of the continuum. Divorce rates would go way down too.
Also for the record, I think sex is very intimate and always better with a long term partner.
I can’t say I am morally clean here. I cheated on my ex-wife, but that was a response to her cheating on me first. We still remain good friends actually. Now I am in an ENM/poly relationship and don’t have to worry about that bs for the most part.

And as far as crime goes, a lot of illegal things are not the slightest bit immoral and some laws are absolutely good to break.

Not everybody’s the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever
If I am on one end of the spectrum, equating cheating on a partner with murder is surely on the other.

I don’t even know where to post this but this seemed like the most appropriate place -
I followed a telegram link from one of the crazy people I follow on facebook and I ended up in a sovereign citizen telegram group. These people are absolutely fucking insane. There’s a “leader” of the group that is supposedly a (maritime) law expert and gives advice. The majority of the people in the group seem to be in foreclosures and he’s giving them advice on how to get out of it. Supposedly on Oct 1st the whole banking system is getting blown up and we’re all going to have our mortgages wiped clear. There’s a few people that have tried the recommendations to stop a foreclosure and end up with an update of something like “Well, they auctioned my house yesterday” and the usual response is they failed in one of the nonsense steps and that’s why it didn’t work.
Also, if any of you get a ticket by the police, try this for me and let me know if it works:

ETA: someone on the telegram channel called a bank to ask them about this and the bank was like “you all fucked up lady, take some meds”. The folks on the telegram channel were telling her that the banks are under an NDA and won’t give anybody information. It felt a bit like slickdeals when someone calls Target to ask about a deal and the slickdeals forums go nuts on them for ruining it.
