Here is what I could put together… Seems like to me the story is that his colleague the Florida solicitor Greenberg was caught in a sex trafficking sting, turned informant and fingered Gaetz. DOJ started an investigation quietly late last year. Someone shady found out about it and decided to use their knowledge of an active investigation to try to extort Gaetz dad. They went to the FBI to avoid being extorted.
Gaetz just blew it all up because he doesn’t care about the investigation or the extortion, he only cares about public perception and he wants to spin this so he’s the victim of the deep state. Poisons the well so even if they get enough to charge him it poisons a potential future jury and protects him from a primary in the meantime.
Was delightful seeing Tucker push him away on live TV last night. “I don’t remember this”, “that was weird”, etc.
Gaetz is of course a failson whose dad sold a healthcare company that was later found guilty of rampant Medicare fraud (if that sounds familiar it’s because the states senior senator did the same exact thing) for $500 million.
Lol stuff like that sucks. When NJ passed Megan’s Law, we found out I shared the same name as a convicted child molester in my town. Only saving grace for me is that I was like 13 at the time and the other dude was like 65.
