The fact that churches don’t pay taxes is the most American thing I can think of
How about a constitutionally guaranteed right for churches to charge taxes collected by the IRS? Welcome to Germany where separation of church and state means nothing.
America should tax churches in the same way that Canada does.

Churches are generally tax exempt here. They are treated like charities.

I wouldn’t be surprised if our Western churches have just as much vitriol against Justin Trudeau.
That is how I think they should be treated.
Maybe Americans should follow the Canadian model of public funding of religious schools.
I don’t see a clean way to carve out churches from other nonprofit orgs. Unless you want to tax them all, which probably isn’t the worst idea. There are so many shenanigans people pull by creating nonprofits.

bit of a necro, but my mother experienced the same kind of thing. she always had her outback serviced at the dealership, one time they forgot to put oil in the car after an oil change… threw a rod on the WAY HOME of course subaru denied everything. my parents being the people they are, just wanted a little bit of a deal on ANOTHER subaru and subaru told them to basically get fucked.
so my parents have owned only toyotas for the rest of their lives.
