I also think about this every so often. I remember going into the city a couple of months after and even as a stupid high school student I knew it couldn’t possibly be safe to be breathing that air in day after day.
I think this is a good gesture, but as always it’s important to remember that the people getting help from employers like this are probably people that could have left the state anyways, whether for permanent relocation or for an abortion. I assume they’re all office workers with stable 9-to-5s. The victims will continue to be poor people who may work multiple jobs or more than 5 days a week and don’t have employer support or a means of leaving the state on their own.
Companies coming out with statements like this are good. Companies ceasing to donate to politicians who support policies like this (so, the entire Republican party) would be better. I’m not seeing much of that.
On December 22, 2001 no passengers were killed, injured, or got splinters or hangnails either and yet Richard Reid is serving 3 consecutive life sentences. Some real bullshit that you can be charged with a crime just for trying to do it.
They’re going full School of Trump on their Facebook page too… lean into it, talk about how many people are saying how wonderful a tribute it was, congratulating themselves for winning honorable mention, limiting comments to people glowingly praising it.
