They effectively track and trace in the developing world. When the number of infections is in the hundreds or low thousands that’s still extremely doable without huge surveillance networks.

The best case scenario for government control of the virus was Germany, which had about 30% of the cases per capita we did. There is literally no one in the world who would have snuffed out COVID here as well as Australia or South Korea.

That cartoonist is Mike Luckovich, who’s written for the Atlanta newspaper since forever. He’s always had really good cartoons.
The crying statue of liberty was one of his most famous, but this one here, also after 9/11, was his most powerful. It moved me and many Atlantans to literal tears when we first saw it.
