Probably much easier to crack down on illegal immigration when nobody from bordering nations wants to come to your country. Even though I’m of Hungarian descent, I have no idea if there are people who are actually trying to cross the border to live there. Is there a reason why there would be?

This I talked to a Iraqi refugee who came to Germany on foot and he said he was picked up by Hungarian police who put him in a refugee camp and told him and his group they would register them the next day and left the doors and gates open overnight. If someone seeks asylum in the EU the country where they are registered for the first time is where they have to seek asylum. The unspoken mutual agreement seems to have been that is wasn’t going to be Hungary.
Also Romanians and Ukrainians. Average income trends lower if you move east from Central Europe.

None of the actual facts/stats matter anymore. Migration on the southern border was a net negative for years when they were harping about illegals
