We just disagree on this. They have to do it. They don’t have any political capital to spend other than “we aren’t them,” look at the complete lack of legislative output. The alternative is talking about Joe Manchin.

She just looks like the shameless idiot she obviously is. If Dems held health care hearings literally nobody would care or pay attention. This isn’t some huge needle mover but it does push back on the wildly successful (to date) GOP whitewashing of 1/6.

I think it’s loosely analogous to the Kav / Ford hearings. It won’t matter but you have to do it and it’s better than nothing.
The Kav hearings were great, they were about sexual assault and stuff Democratic voters care about. Making Republicans defend some creepy rich rapebro was great branding. No one stays up at night worrying about how the Capitol Police are doing. A big chunk of the Democratic base spent last year protesting the cops, FFS. And no Republican is ever switching parties because they actually care about Blue Lives.
If these hearings are going to be solely about Blue Lives then they’re missing the lead. This should be about a sincere attempt at the permanent destruction of American Democracy. The insurrectionists and Republicans in general are totally fine with the idea of throwing out a legitimate election just because they feel like it. And had that happened, we’d be done as a democracy.

Thing is people don’t churn out to vote for heavy stuff like defending democracy, they vote on pocketbook stuff that affects them immediately, like healthcare and wages and whatnot.
