These guys live in a world where the collapse of democracy is a possibility that might happen 2-4 years down the road and not something that’s been ongoing since 2016 (at least). It’s just a huge mental block to accept how fucked up things are right now.
They think of “Republicans” as those guys they go for lunch with at fancy restaurants in DC. They think MTG is an outlier, but she’s the median Republican. They made the same mistake with Trump - they think hes a one-off but the country is overflowing with stupid, racist, blustering failsons.

I think most Dems get it, it’s just that we have like 10 old moderate rich assholes blocking shit. So Dems have to do as much as possible to be bipartisan for them so they get what they want in reconciliation.
If Schumer didn’t bother trying this bill it’s way more likely manchin and cinema be complete shit in the reconciliation bill.

Unlike you guys, I’ve actually been fairly impressed how much the edems (in the Senate moreso) have moved to the left on a lot of issues lately like climate, LBGTQ, social net, etc. They are still getting blocked by Manchen/Sinema/etal. but the bills being passed right now would not have happened years ago. Long way to go (healthcare, military apparatus), but there has been progress within the party.

WTF - That’s the most depressing headline I’ve seen in quite some time.
I mean they’ve done better than expected with this line up but none of it matters is they do nothing about republicans rigging elections which they won’t.
They did some good and are going to let a decade plus of bad happen right after them. Honestly it could get really, really bad. Their voters want straight up fascism. They want to rig elections

Let’s hope none of these 2 million people were kneeling while protesting injustice in their countries. That automatically would have delegitimized any otherwise valid positions they might have held, ldo.
