This was my read as well.
They nuked Liz Cheney (LIZ FUCKING CHENEY) and are uniformly supportive of an actual Q lunatic. The wheels are all the way off, there is zero difference between “libertarian” crazy and any other kind. And they’re still favorites to end democracy.

I don’t think cowardice is the correct explanation. The careerists are making smart plays. They’re facing demographic obliteration and this is how they stay in power. They have no incentive to take a principled stand or lose gracefully. Democracy has little to offer them.
