in our current system, affluent people tend to pay for professional child care at a higher rate than people who are more likely to not be able to afford these services. therefore: poor people don’t want free quality preschool.
the poor like their lifestyles too much to pay for childcare at the same rate as the affluent checks notes four-year college grads. story checks out. 
Equating a four year degree with automatic affluence (and the converse) makes him impossible to take seriously.

Trump’s superpower was not only being naturally deplorable but not having any fixed ideas, so he could accurately reflect the bases current views based on audience response to a bunch of semi-random shit. People like Vance, Rubio, Cruz, etc. have something approaching a coherent conservative ideology and so they lack Trump’s ability to adjust, audible and pander.
Trump’s like “send everyone checks” because people like checks, but it goes against everything most GOP politicos took a blood oath to their donors to support. You can please the donors or the voters, but it’s damn hard to please both if you’re not running in the Deep South.
