Yeah no way condoms are banned, but I could see even the hormonal pill getting banned. I mean these religious extremists think itâs wrong, and they run the show in a lot of red states.
Definitions are important here. Theyâre going to go after things that prevent implantation, like copper IUDs. Maybe not traditional hormone based BC though
I havenât checked in a while, but donât copper IUDs mostly prevent fertilization? I assume it also prevents implantation but I seem to remember that the fertilization prevention is the greater factor. Not motivated enough to do a deep dive. But if someone wants to fill me in, thatâs great.
And yes, I realize the actual facts donât matter to these people.
The problem is the cycle in the GOP, especially at the state level, is one of everyone trying to outflank each other on the crazy/right. Nobody wants to be the RINO who was ok with birth control allowing premarital sex without ramifications.
it does both really, but it definitely prevents implantation too. Theyâre definitely seen as more preventing implantation than other forms by the crazies.
Bolded is the part that I think is probably wrong. What we really need is a stat that shows of pregnancies prevented, what percentage were due to fertilization block vs what percentage were due to preventing implantation. Iâll see if I can find it when Iâve got time to kill.
in other news, an update on the panel in Polk county, FL that my friend is part of thatâs reviewing âcontroversialâ books: small victories! (I have no clue why this is in sports)
Iâm gonna visit the baby brother in Austin later this week. Apparently there has been an outbreak of MAGA signs in his neighborhood. Mothers Against Greg Abbott.
